Blue Sky Farm

My blogging posts and photos are part of me . I think of this as a scrapbook of my life. The names have not been changed.. they are real people who have crossed my path along my journey. Some I know intimately, my family and friends. If their names are mentioned it's a sure sign they are special to me and I love them dearly...come along see for yourself, perhaps you know some of them too..

Christmas at the beach

Christmas at Yachats, Oregon
We rented a  lovely home through Beach Vacation Rentals..and will  go back for sure in the summer
,
We had a fabulous time with some of Clay's family  Here  Sister in law Jackie and me  in the Beautifully painted  house.  Bright colors  through out.. No way would you feel gloomy here in any weather.  Clay and  his brothers Steve  and Pete

We enjoyed the waves crashing onto the shore and the weather was mild. A bit of morning fog and as expected a bit of rain..Took many seaside pictures and here are a few.

This is Face Rock  at  Bandon , Oregon. ( do you see her face looking up to the sky?)

* WARNING
The next photo may be disturbing ..

While at the beach sadly a dead  female Grey Whale washed ashore,  I had never been so close to a whale before...The  Marine Biologists were examining and taking samples to determine what caused her death.

 The Lighthouse in the fog.. and a few beautiful  Elk we saw on the way home. Making our trip more eventful.

Special & Spoiled...

I have tried before to tame my hens. It is hard to do unless they are handled a lot when they are baby chicks.
This is Lily.  She comes running to me anytime I happen to open the back door..In fact she often stands at the door waiting... It is funny to see her come a running. The other 4 hens quickly follow but only Lily will wait for us to pick her up.. We stroke her feathers and gently release her to eat the treats.. I do love my chickens.. it is cold here  dipping below 20 at night so I make sure to feed the "girls" warm treats before they retire to their coop.  They really love warm  noodles, rice  and oatmeal.. I make sure they get  the left overs. I have not had to put a heater in their coop..they seem to huddle together  just fine.. Their water however is heated and inside the coop. Yeah,  I think my "girls" are special and spoiled too...

Let the Magic begin...

 Twas only December 2nd a cold windy day but   we had to get started on Christmas Decorating...  We decorated the outside of Blue Sky Farm today. Now when it gets dark we can Turn on the switch to reveal  the Magic! I will post more pictures then...
 We will  be putting  "bird friendly" items on the outside porch tree for them to nibble on throughout the cold winter. Leaving the tree standing after Christmas.
Since we will be away for Christmas We decided to focus on the outside only this year.. and enjoy the beach  house where we will  bring simple decorations to warm the cottage...Tomorrow I will be attending a Christmas Artisan show that has been  enjoyed in Klamath Falls for 44 years! We want to also attend the Snowflake Parade later this week.. ..cant wait.. more pictures to follow...
